The story of Eco-Drive is central to Citizen's identity. Citizen introduced a light-powered analog watch in 1976, and the technology evolved into today's Eco-Drive system. The watches use light to generate energy and store it for later use, helping them continue running even when they are not regularly exposed to light.

For shoppers who prefer traditional mechanical movements, Citizen's automatic offerings provide another side of the brand. TSUYOSA combines contemporary proportions and colorful dials, while Series8 takes a more sophisticated sports-watch direction. Series8 models use Citizen's mechanical calibers and feature enhanced magnetic resistance, with different collections using Caliber 0950, 9051 or 9054 movements.

The Promaster family is aimed at more specialized environments.
